Over 270 youngsters enjoyed the special one-day event entitled 'Ultimate Peace in the Middle East'.Led by a team of professional sportsmen and women, along with a group of energetic volunteers, the sport of ‘Ultimate Frisbee’ was harnessed to bring young Palestinians and Israelis together recognizing that the five core principles of the game correlate to the goals of peacebuilding: mutual respect, friendship, non-violence, personal integrity and fun.
The youngsters, who usually participate in basketball activities, were excited to learn a new game and made the most of the opportunity to learn, interact and enjoy themselves in mixed Palestinian-Israeli groups. They took part in instructional workshops and fun interactive games and finished with a tournament and celebration. Instructional workshops were also held for Israeli and Palestinian coaches and teachers allowing for cross-border cooperation at additional levels.
