University Institute for Diplomacy
and Regional Cooperation

The Peres Center for Peace, together with Tel Aviv University, founded the University Institute for Diplomacy and Regional Cooperation (UIDRC) in 2002. The UIDRC serves as an internal academic institute of Tel Aviv University, focusing on research and discussion of diplomacy and regional cooperation issues.

The goals and activities of the University Institute for Diplomacy and Regional Cooperation include:
  • Research in the field of diplomacy, including diplomatic history, international conflict resolution, and negotiation methods;
  • Research in the area of regional cooperation, including research based on records accumulated at the Peres Center for Peace;
  • Holding conferences, colloquia, seminars and advanced studies on the topics of diplomacy and regional cooperation;
  • Publishing original research in UIDRC's fields of interest;
  • Cooperation with the program of Diplomacy Studies and relevant programs in the Harold Hartog School of Government and Policy;
  • Developing cooperation with other similar institutes and with the diplomatic community, in Israel and abroad, including the Arab states.
Activities of the University Institute are undertaken in four channels:
1. Joint activities by the Peres Center and the UIDRC;
2. Meetings and conferences held independently by the UIDRC;
3. Ongoing activities and studies of the UIDRC;
4. Funding and publication of research related to the UIDRC's objectives.

The academic and executive committees of the UIDRC comprise representatives from the Peres Center for Peace and Tel Aviv University.
