Gaza Roundtable Launched -- To Study Israel-Gaza Passages

The Peres Center is bringing together Palestinian, Israeli and international economists and experts to research and analyze the subject of passages between the Gaza Strip and Israel, and their economic, political and security implications under three alternative scenarios: an improved climate of relations between Israel and Gaza, a worsened climate, or a continuation of the status quo.

Called the “Gaza Roundtable,” this initiative brings together prominent Palestinian, Israeli and international leaders over the course of 12 months in five roundtable formations – representatives of the  governments of Israel and the Palestinian Authority, international organizations, private sector, civil society, NGOs and academia. The meetings, research and final position paper -- "Palestinian-Israeli Roundtables: The Israel-Gaza Strip Passages Regime – Scenario Analyses and Policy Recommendations" -- will target EU officials, Israeli and Palestinian governments, civil society leaders and the media, providing valuable information on economic activity between Israel and the Gaza Strip, in order to facilitate and encourage better informed policy decisions, recommend procedures for crisis management, and improve the potential for peaceful relations between the two sides.

This project is generously supported by the EU Peace Building Partnership.

This encounter between Palestinian and Israeli executives and entrepreneurs at Israel’s leading international electronics exhibition was yet another successful initiative of the Peres Center's Business and Economics Department, bringing together Palestinian and Israeli businesspeople from parallel sectors and introducing them to the market on the "other side" and to potential business partners, thereby encouraging business ties and strengthening cross-border trade.

The program is generously sponsored by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Israel and the Norwegian Representative Office to the Palestinian Authority.
