The Peres Center for Peace and Innovation is hosting photographer Ziv Koren in an exhibition aimed at memorializing and preserving the memory of the greatest disaster that has ever occurred in the State of Israel.

Through the unique perspective of his camera lens, Ziv Koren has been documenting historical events and humanitarian crises in Israel and around the world for years, but nothing prepared him for the events of October 7, 2023. There was one thing he knew for sure – he had to be there, immediately.

Ziv took his camera, got on his motorcycle, and was one of the first photographers who, under fire and under a heavy cloud of uncertainty, documented that terrible day.

Since October 7, all of Ziv Koren's work has been devoted to documenting events in various spheres, and his works serve as a startling, unique and firsthand testimony, from the kibbutzim, the towns and the cities of the Gaza Envelope; he captures the sounds and sights of the soldiers on the battlefield, of the process of rehabilitating the wounded; he accompanies the released hostages, their families and the campaign demanding the release of those still held captive. Each picture tells a different and powerful story of memory, pain, and bereavement alongside heroism, renewal, and also hope.

This exhibition is dedicated to the lives of the many Israelis who were brutally and prematurely taken, to the heroism we have witnessed on the battlefield and in the home front, to the rehabilitation and recovery of those wounded in both mind and body. Furthermore, it is dedicated to the immediate release of the hostages still in captivity, With part of the proceeds designated to the Hostages and Missing Families Forum.

Ziv Koren is a world-renowned photojournalist, winner of international awards, who has covered global events, such as the earthquakes in Haiti, Nepal and Turkey, the tsunami disaster in Southeast Asia, the war in Ukraine, and the coronavirus pandemic in Israel.
